00 / OVERVIEW

Improving the platform people already relied on

Improving the platform people already relied on

The platform brings together doctors, consultants, junior doctors, and healthcare professionals through discussions, direct messaging, events, announcements, and dedicated programme workspaces.

This was an iterative improvement project driven directly by user feedback. The focus was not a new product, but targeted interventions that made familiar workflows faster, clearer, and easier to trust.

01 / THE CHALLENGE

Growth exposed friction in trust, context, and navigation

Growth exposed friction in trust, context, and navigation

Growth exposed friction in trust, context, and navigation

01

Official messages lacked a distinct identity

Members needed to recognise trusted organisational communication at a glance.

02

Switching between cohorts took too much effort

Users managing several communities could lose track of their current workspace.

03

Administrators needed flexibility without inconsistency

Communication tools had to scale while keeping the experience coherent and familiar.

02 / KEY FEATURES

Small, targeted changes with system-wide impact

01 / SEND AS

Let administrators speak through trusted organisational identities

Announcements can be sent as Community Updates, Admin Team, Events Team, Programme Team, or another predefined persona—creating an immediate distinction between official communication and personal conversation.

02 / WORKSPACES

Make the user’s current community obvious—and switching effortless

Make the user’s current community obvious—and switching effortless

The workspace selector was redesigned to reduce interactions, improve discoverability, and keep the user’s current context visible. The result lowers cognitive load for members moving between programmes and cohorts.

03 / CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Polish the workflows people use every day without disrupting their habits

Smaller navigation, interaction, and workflow refinements were shipped alongside the larger features. Together, they improved the experience while preserving the platform’s familiar mental model.

03 / DESIGN APPROACH

Feedback in. Prototype out. Learn quickly.

Because the application serves a focused private community, ideas could be validated quickly with real users. Each iteration responded to observed friction instead of assumptions.

The design principle was simple: solve practical problems with scalable changes that feel native to existing workflows.
